It has made me realise thought that it is important to actually take some ‘wedding free’ days in your planning process to stop your head from imploding with all the ideas & the giant ‘to do’ list!
I am usually a very decisive person who knows exactly what they like and want but the impending wedding seems to have got the better of me and my brain has turned to ‘mush’! A little break here and there is good to clear the mind and give you some clarity! Don’t sweat the small stuff girls!
So now that the weather has been getting warmer and daylight savings is upon us (in NSW) I've started to think about our outdoor ceremony location. Even though your not getting married in a church there's no reason you cant make a great focal point and backdrop, or grand entrance!
Here are a few ideas that have caught my eye!
The circle motif
If you aren’t constrained by the traditional aisle or church layout why not try something different? The circle is a popular symbolism for weddings – a never ending circle of love is something wedding rings are also said to symbolise! I love the idea of creating a circle to stand in during the ceremony or even to have your guests sit in an intimate circle around you! You could ask guests to all bring a flower along to the ceremony & lay it on the ground at the front to create the circle you & your man will stand in. Or create one with stones.

Focal points
Gather some things you love to create a focal point for behind you as you say your vows.
The guests will not only be looking at you but at the backdrop behind you!
I love the idea of finding a chandelier & hanging it out of a tree behind you, drape some fabric from the trees like curtains. Or it could be as simple as scouting out the area to find a stunning tree that in itself provides a beautiful backdrop provided by nature! Not a beautiful tee in sight? Decorate the limbs of what you have with hanging pom poms, lanterns, ribbons or birdcages.

Bring the inside out
I love the idea of finding a pair of antique doors to prop up & enter through at the top of your outdoor aisle! Just because your not in a church doesn’t mean you cant make a grand entrance! Try antique stores or places that sell second hand architectural elements from demolition sites – or good old ebay! Don’t stop there – how about finding some church pews for your guests to sit on or an eclectic mix of vintage chairs?

I've also seen lavender in pots lining the aisle or a pair of orange trees laden with fruit at the top of the aisle – both of which were really simple but had a gorgeous effect! Head to your local nursery for some inspiration! Think outside the square for your outdoor ceremony and you will have stunning results!
